This mural was a joint project with Shanna Steals created in 2022 for ACFO. Through public consultation with recent immigrants and using current statistics, countries and their representative fabrics were identified. The countries represented from top centre right and moving in a figure 8 along the banner are: Cameron, Senegal, Haiti, Belgium, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Morocco, India, Mexico, Cuba, Algeria, Jordan, Trinidad and Tobago, Mali, Congo (DRC), France, Djibouti, and Cote d'Ivoire. The hands are one of the participants of the public consultation and one of the artists.
The mural is mounted in Hawkesbury at Place des Pionniers to welcome new immigrants to the region. Spanning all panels a long fabric banner encircling the fleur-de-lis a symbol of Ontario’s Francophone community. The fabric banner’s shape represents the Metis. A graphic background in white and green to represent the dynamic element that all of these cultures add to the region. It was painted on 5 large panels. This image is a composite of the photos of each panel.
